OUR TEAM
At Southern Tier Network, our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and reliable support to every customer we serve. We take pride in being part of the communities we connect and work closely with local businesses, organizations, and residents to strengthen the region’s digital foundation. Our commitment goes beyond building fiber as we focus on building relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and care. With 24-hour accessibility, our team is always here to ensure your network runs smoothly and your connection to what matters most never falters.
About Southern Tier Network (STN)
What does “open-access” mean in STN’s network?
Open-access means STN doesn’t compete with internet service providers, we enable them. Our model separates the physical infrastructure (the fiber network) from the services ( Internet), creating a neutral platform that fosters real choice and competition for the customer.
How does open-access benefit communities, businesses, schools, hospitals, and other institutions?
Open-access provides several key advantages for organizations:
-Lower costs through competitive provider options
-Flexibility to switch or expand services as needs evolve
-Faster adoption of new technologies
Reliability and resilience thanks to diverse routes and redundant network design
What does open-access mean for residents and local communities?
-For residents, open-access ensures:
-Affordable broadband options driven by competition rather than monopolies
-Freedom of choice to select the provider and package that best fit household needs
-Opportunities for local providers to compete using fiber infrastructure
Why is open-access important for the future of connectivity?
Open-access levels the playing field. Instead of being locked into a single provider, families and organizations can choose from a marketplace of service providers, all using the same high-performance network. The outcome is stronger communities, better prices, and universal access to reliable broadband.
Built on Corning Incorporated’s SMF-28 Fiber
Built on Corning Incorporated’s SMF-28 single-mode fiber in 144+ fiber count configurations, STN’s dense fiber architecture offers secure, high-speed, and reliable capacity, along with redundant and diverse routes for resilience. Network speeds exceed 100 Gbps, powering 5G, IoT, and emerging smart city applications.
Flexible Leasing Options
STN leases dark fiber capacity to telecommunications carriers, Internet Service Providers, government, education, healthcare, financial, and commercial enterprises. Customers can choose flexible operating expense (OPEX) leases or long-term capital expense (CAPEX) and Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) agreements, typically ranging from 10 to 20 years.
Built-to-Suit Solutions
Every customer receives a tailored, future-proofed network solution with sole control over their private fiber. STN supports projects with customized route planning, construction, testing, and maintenance, delivering high performance at low cost and ensuring a strong return on investment.
Our Mission
Enable universal access to affordable broadband services while fostering economic growth across the region.
Our Vision
Build and sustain public-private coalitions that deliver low-cost, open-access broadband infrastructure, advancing economic development and ensuring affordable broadband access for all communities.
